The hike starts from the farm Moldhaugar, crossing moorland and gravel flats onto the ridge of Moldhaugnaháls.
Date: Sunday, 5 July
Departure: 9:00 by private cars from FFA, Strandgata 23
Carpooling if desired.
Guide: Árni Arnsteinsson from Grjótgarður
We drive to the farm Moldhaugar, leave the cars there, and begin the hike. The route goes across moorland and gravel terrain until reaching the ridge of Moldhaugnaháls. From there, the high ridge is followed with views in both directions until reaching Litli Hnjúkur (790 m high).
Those who do not wish to go all the way can turn back at any point. The pace will be relaxed, with stories told along the way and possibly a few detours, depending on what the guide feels like doing and what conditions allow.
This is a comfortable walk up along the ridge, though the final stretch to Litli Hnjúkur is somewhat rocky. The same route is taken back.
Distance: 10–12 km
Elevation gain: up to 690 m, depending on how high participants choose to go
