Dóra Emils studied at the Icelandic College of Arts and Crafts before continuing her education in Amsterdam, where she graduated from the Gerrit Rietveld Academie. Since then, she has worked as a visual artist and has held numerous exhibitions in Iceland and abroad.
Dóra's work is characterized by the interplay between the abstract and the tangible, the inner and the outer. A lyrical quality emerges where delicate elements of nature such as flowers and plants or man made objects encounter the vast, appearing as shimmer or luminous clouds. An inner landscape takes subtle form, revealing unexpected depth, where small details play a significant role in the overall narrative.
The works in this exhibition were created over recent years using mixed media on paper.
Myndstef – The Icelandic Visual Artists' Copyright Association generously supports the exhibition.
Exhibition: August 8–23
