Björg Eiríksdóttir works across a range of media, placing nature and the relationship between human beings and their environment at the core of her practice. In this exhibition, she focuses on the body and the sensory experience of being in nature - and of being nature.

 

Björg was enrolled in the Master’s programme in Painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Porto, during the winter of 2020–2021. She completed an MA in Art Education at the University of Akureyri in 2017, graduated from the Akureyri School of Visual Arts in 2003, and earned a B.Ed.h from the Iceland University of Education in 1991. Since 2003, she has worked as an artist alongside her teaching practice. She has taught art at the Comprehensive College of Akureyri and art education at the Iceland University of the Arts. She has held 16 solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group exhibitions.

 

This exhibition was created during the Gjutars Residency in Vantaa, Finland, and was shown at Galleria Gjutars from 24 to 28 June 2026.
