A Community Conversation on Online Safety and Information Disorder

Skúli Bragi Geirdal and Haukur Brynjarsson, experts in social cybersecurity and media literacy, will join us to lead the discussion.

  • Online scams are designed to trick people. We’ll help you stay alert.
  • The session aims to strengthen participants’ information and media literacy and empower them to navigate an ever-changing digital environment safely, critically and responsibly.
  • Topics include phishing, romance scams, online financial fraud, propaganda, national security, fake news, artificial intelligence and information disorder.

More Open House talks are scheduled for the autumn semester:

  • 30 November: 1 December – The history and significance of the day
  • 14 December: How do our systems communicate with each other? A presentation by HSN and Akureyri Hospital.

Open House sessions are always held on Mondays at 14:00 in room N102, Sólborg, Norðurslóð 2.

Open House is a joint initiative of the Friends of the University of Akureyri, the Healthcare Institution of Northeast Iceland, Akureyri Hospital, the Akureyri Senior Citizens’ Association and Active Ageing – Akureyri Municipality.

The initiative aims to make learning more accessible and welcome everyone to our university – a university for all!

Everyone is welcome, subject to seating availability. Admission is free!
