Rakel Sigurðardóttir will perform a concert in the Inner Hall at Leyninn.
Rakel Sigurðardóttir has been part of the Icelandic music scene for several years. Her music has regularly appeared on the country’s charts, and she has performed and toured internationally with numerous well-known musicians and bands (including Nanna Bryndís Hilmarsdóttir, Lón, Ceasetone, Damon Albarn, Kaktusi Einarssyni, Axel Flóvent, and others), earning various awards and recognitions for her work.
In 2021, Rakel released her first EP, Nothing Ever Changes, and in the same year she was nominated for the Icelandic Music Awards as Newcomer of the Year. That same year, she also had one of the most popular songs of the year ’21 with JóaPé and Ceasetone (“Ég var að spá”). The following year, together with musicians Salóme Katrín and Sara Flindt (DK), she released the EP While We Wait, which was nominated for the Icelandic Music Awards as Album of the Year.
In 2025, she signed a record deal with Ólafur Arnalds’ label, OPIA Community, and released the album a place to be. The album has received widespread acclaim both in Iceland and internationally, including winning the Kraums Awards 2025 and the PLUS Award at Iceland Airwaves.
Rakel is now preparing for a year of international touring, performing at showcase festivals as well as opening for the band Of Monsters and Men on their European tour.
