Welcome to a romantic atmosphere, dance and sweet tunes in an illuminated Botanical Garden in Rökkurró.

The Akureyri Culture Night Opening Ceremony will take place in the Botanical Garden in Akureyri on Friday evening, August 29th, and the programme will officially begin with an address by the mayor at 9:00 PM.

Guitarist Dimitrios Theodoropoulos will set the tone shortly before the event, while at 9:00 PM, Ásthildur Sturludóttir, the mayor of Akureyri, will open the festival and present the Akureyri Culture Night programme.

After the mayor's address, Memories from Brazil will take over the Botanical Garden before dancers from Danskóli Steps perform the dance piece Sofðu rótt. After that, sweet tunes from Hrund Hlöðversdóttir will take over. Finally, Helga and Bjarni will perform Icelandic gems that will lead guests into the night.

The programme is scheduled to end around 10:00 PM.
