Hulda Rós Guðnadóttir is born in Reykjavík in 1973. She holds a BA degree in anthropology and visual arts and an MA degree in interactive design. She lives and works in Berlin, Germany, and has participated in over one hundred exhibitions far and wide, making a name for herself within the field of contemporary visual art with her unique approach. Her theoretical and technical base shines through in her works, which border on visual art, cinema and social critique.
What characterizes Guðnadóttir‘s work is, among other things, honesty, originality and a strong personal approach. She utilizes certain research-processes in creating her work and looks at how different areas of the world – Iceland included – are connected through extractive industries and the processing of raw materials. Such polluting and profit-driven industries can be connected to the utilization of clean energy sources, even in small places with associated trade-offs. Or what? Guðnadóttir expresses with her sensitivity how the individual is molded by his environment.
