Geirmundur has been on stage since 1958, when he was 14 years old, and has since been one of the most productive musicians in the country. He has performed at all major music and outdoor festivals in the country, and has sung in most of the country's social centers and concert halls. In 2008, Geirmundur celebrated his 50th "business anniversary" in the gymnasium in Sauðárkrók, where he packed the gymnasium and many hundreds of people attended.Geirmundur released his first album "Í singjandi svív" in 1989, and since then there have been twelve albums.
