The trip starts at the gravel pit at Víkurskarð and continues north to Draflastaðir. From there, the route goes through Melaskógur and Skuggabjargaskógur, into Dalsmynni, and along Fnjóská to the bridge. A short section along the main road leads back to the starting point, then the return drive home.
Those with bike racks should use them; otherwise, bikes can be transported on a trailer.
Cycling time is expected to be about 3 hours, but the total trip including stops and a snack break will take about 4 hours, plus driving time.
