Flower pattern by Sigurður the painter - course and fellowship in embroidery

The course is offered on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the painter Sigurður Guðmundsson, one of Matthías' closest friends, roommate and beloved colleague in arts and culture. Patterns designed by Sigurður Guðmundsson for clothes will be sewn, but can be used for many other things such as garments, bags, cushions, frames. Students can choose between two patterns: on the one hand the "Sóleyjar" pattern and on the other the Byzantine pattern.

Kristín Vala Breiðfjörður, chairman of the Icelandic Home Industry Association, will teach different embroidery stitches, such as flat stitch, seed knots, long and short stitches and leg stitch. The course is for advanced and beginners. It is conducted in Icelandic and it is taken into account that people who live here come from all over the world.
