Participate in making a difference - join in the "Plokk Dagurinn".

The 24th April is a national trash pickup day (plokk dagurinn). Getting people all over Iceland to pick up the litter around their house, in town, open areas and along the beaches and rivers.
On this day every year in Iceland, the community gets together to do their part in saving the environment.

The idea comes from the phenomenon that is slowly taking over the world known as plogging; combining plucking and jogging. It simply means to go running and pick up some trash whilst doing so.

Trash can be brought to recycling stations in Akureyri and thrown into special containers that will be available from 20th to 256h April.
