The event takes place on 30th July 2022

Started in 2016 by the local running club, the event has grown every year and for the first time in 2020, a main event of 55km and 3000m elevation gain will be added, giving 3 ITRA points. The race takes participants from the highest peaks around Akureyri down to the central heart of town, arriving with a big smile on their face at the finishing line.
​Still on the menu are the two shorter races, 28km and 18km. The 18km race is good for anyone familiar with trail running, while the 28km is more challenging with steeper climbs.
​Akureyri is the biggest town in Iceland outside of the capital area in the south, with 19.000 inhabitants. Participants have various options for accommodation and dining, and can either get to Akureyri by driving from Keflavík airport or take the domestic flight from Reykjavík with Air Iceland Connect.
