As part of the Listasumar (Akureyri Art Summer), interesting and fun creatures have been installed in the Art Alley (Listagilið). The creatures are intended to encourage younger generations to dispose of their trash properly. The Trash Creatures are the creation of artist Jónborg Sigurðardóttir, also known as Jonna.

There are three Trash Creatures, located in the Art Alley on Kaupvangsstræti, and by the pond in front of Akureyri Swimming pool.
