Logi Bjarnason (born 1978) graduated with a BA degree from Iceland University of the Arts in 2008 and an MA degree from Städelschule in Germany in 2012. He has exhibited his work in Iceland and abroad and has won prizes and recognitions for his visual art.

The subject matter in Bjarnason’s art is Icelandic nature, presented in an abstract way, interlaced with societal issues. He uses various media for his work, either two-dimensional or three-dimensional, even both.

The work on the balcony presents a new approach in sculpture where the borders of conception and width have shifted. The sculpture is a part of a series of black rocks, where the abstract form is a criticism of our times with a strong reference to the state of the world in times of war, with the West being completely powerless.

The bittersweet gloom that surrounds us becomes an attraction that calls for fellowship and simultaneously an assessment of quality of life and space.
