The hike starts at Lokastaðarétt in Dalsmynni. From there, the route goes out to Réttarhóllinn and then ascends Þveráröxl, which lies above and beyond the farm Þverá. The walk continues onto the mountain known as Þúfufjall.
The descent is near the farm Þúfa, part of an abandoned settlement at the far end of Fnjóskadalur. This is a fairly steep hike to an outstanding viewpoint, rich in history where every step reflects the past.
Before the hike begins, one car needs to be driven approximately 4 km from Lokastaðir to Þúfa in order to shuttle drivers back to Lokastaðarétt, or alternatively participants can walk back.
Distance: 7–8 km
Elevation gain: 800–900 m
