Museums - All our museums are child friendly!
Public Library - With a great children's section and regular events.
Frisbee golf - Akureyri has 6 Folf courses! And frisbees can be rented out.
Movie theater - Open daily with films in the afternoon/evening. Films are usually not dubbed, but with icelandic text (ask before buying tickets).
Christmas Garden - Christmas all year long in this lovely cabin 10 min south of Akureyri.
Boat trip to Hrísey - Visit this island, just 15 min boat ride from land.
Indoor Skatepark - State of the art Skate Park very close to downtown. Skateboard equipment can be rented out.
Ice cream! All year long: Ísbuðín / Brynja -- only in Summer / Turninn / Holtsel
Climbing Gym 15-20 minutes from Akureyri. This is the largest indoor climbing facility in the north of Iceland, offering a wide variety of bouldering tracks.
Skiing - In our local area, Hlíðarfjall... or Dalvík, or Siglufjorður... everywhere!
Ice skating - Our skating ring is open to public on certain times over the weekend.
Petting Zoo - About 30 min out of town, a petting zoo with farm animals that the little ones will love (not open all winter)
Sledges- several fun places to sledge on are found in the town, the most popular is the Santahill.
Hamrar - Camping Hamrar has water safari, boat rental, frisbee golf, nature walks... Lots to do!

Art Summer Art courses and activities are offered during summertime as a part of the Art Summer Program for childen of all ages.
