Easter

Easter in Akureyri is an unforgettable experience. Below you can find an overview of what is on offer during the holidays (April 1 to April 6, 2026).
To make your visit as enjoyable as possible, it is good to plan ahead. It is possible to book restaurants and many entertainment / culture events in advance.
There are numerous hiking opportunities for outdoor activities. In Mt. Hlíðarfjall there is always plenty going on—you can ski downhill, snowboard, or go cross-country skiing. In and around the town there are diverse hiking paths, you can try disc golf, visit Kjarnaskógur where there are excellent playgrounds and enjoyable walking routes. Ski touring is popular, with many opportunities in the mountains and valleys surrounding the town.

In the museum education space, children and adults can sit down and draw or do crafts together.
