The ski season in Hlíðarfjall is coming to a festive close as the 50th anniversary of the Andrésar Andar Games fills the mountain with energy and excitement.

The event, Iceland’s largest children’s winter sports festival, has drawn a record number of participants this year, with more than 1,000 young skiers and snowboarders taking part from across the country and abroad. Competitions span alpine skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, and biathlon, making the games a true highlight of the winter season.

With all lifts operating through the final days and favourable weather conditions, visitors have a unique opportunity to experience the lively atmosphere on the slopes. The ski area will close after tomorrow, marking the end of the season in Hlíðarfjall.

The Andrésar Andar Games, first held in 1976, have long been a cornerstone of Icelandic winter sports culture, bringing generations of young athletes together under the motto: “Let’s enjoy and have fun together.”
