"What do I see?"

School children's visit to artists

Students in grades 5-6 at Glerárskóli visit three artists in Akureyri and document the visit with an iPad. The students then create a painted portrait of the artists and include what they found exciting and interesting. Videos from the visit and sketches that the students made in their creative process are also shown.

The goal of the project is to give students a good opportunity to get to know artists, their creative process, working conditions and environment. At the same time, to give exhibition visitors the opportunity to experience children's views of artists.

The project is supervised by Elsa María Guðmundsdóttir, MA in Cultural Management and visual arts teacher at Glerárskóli.

The artists who were visited are Guðmundur Ármann Sigurjónsson, Egill Logi Jónasson (Akureyrar Municipal Artist 2025) and Arna Guðný Valsdóttir.

The exhibition is part of the Akureyri Town Children's Cultural Festival and is supported by the Children's Cultural Fund. The partner is the Hof Cultural Center.

The exhibition opens on Saturday, April 18th at 2pm at the Hof Cultural Center. Light refreshments will be provided and everyone is welcome!

The exhibition runs until May 4th and is open during Hof's opening hours.
